Research on the Scale and Profile of Football Enthusiasts in Guangdong Province

Company overview

Shenzhen Chao Xiang Group Co., Ltd. was established in 1999 and is a comprehensive sports industry group. Since 2015, in response to the central government's call, the group has launched the "Chao Xiang Urban Football Development Initiative," dedicated to promoting grassroots football development. The group's core business activities include investing in and constructing football facilities, organizing football tournaments, and actively assisting the Guangdong Provincial Department of Sports and the Guangdong Football Association in formulating local football industry development plans, advancing the reform of Chinese football. Beyond substantial investments in infrastructure, Chao Xiang Group is committed to promoting football culture and enhancing the overall football industry ecosystem, aiming to drive the long-term development of football in Guangdong Province.

Research background

To better implement the requirements of policy documents such as the "State Council's Opinions on Accelerating the Development of the Sports Industry and Promoting Sports Consumption," the "Overall Plan for the Reform and Development of Chinese Football," and the "Implementation Opinions on the Reform and Development of Football in Guangdong Province," Chao Xiang Group has conducted in-depth research into the current state and potential of the football industry, particularly focusing on the current status and characteristics of football enthusiasts. The rapid development of Guangdong's football industry requires accurate, detailed data support, a well-established statistical system and standardization framework, and tailored policy measures developed according to regional differences. Therefore, Chao Dian Research was commissioned by Chao Xiang Group to conduct an in-depth survey on football enthusiasts across Guangdong Province.

Research scope

In July 2020, Chao Dian Research was entrusted by Chao Xiang Group to carry out a comprehensive survey on football enthusiasts across the 21 prefecture-level cities in Guangdong Province. The primary objective of the survey was to fully understand key characteristics of football enthusiasts, including their distribution, consumption capacity, willingness to consume, and potential consumption, as well as demographic features such as age, gender ratio, regional disparities, frequency and duration of participation in football activities, and demand for football-related products and services. This study aims to explore the consumption behaviors and potential of football enthusiasts in Guangdong Province. The findings provide scientific market data support for the development of Guangdong's football industry and help understand regional differences in football consumption patterns, offering foundational data and reference for formulating local football development policies.

Expected outcomes

Through this research, Chao Xiang Group hopes to obtain detailed and reliable market data on football enthusiasts in Guangdong Province, providing a solid basis for future policy formulation and strategic planning in the football industry. The results will enable a deeper understanding of the development patterns and trends in Guangdong's football market, assess the potential of football industries across different regions—particularly in terms of consumer behavior—and provide data support for policy reforms and strategic planning in the football sector. The findings will assist government and relevant departments in making scientifically informed decisions regarding the promotion of local football development, the expansion of sports consumption, and the enhancement of public participation in physical activities.
