Company overview

TCL Group Corporation is a globally leading intelligent product manufacturing and internet application services enterprise group headquartered in China, listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange (Stock Code: SZ.000100). The group has a broad business portfolio, with three listed subsidiaries: TCL Electronics, TCL Display Technology, and Tongli Electronics. TCL Group currently employs 75,000 people, operates 23 R&D centers and 21 manufacturing facilities, and maintains a sales network spanning 160 countries and regions worldwide. The company has established strong capabilities in supply chain integration and market expansion, serving as a benchmark for Chinese manufacturing globalization.

Research background

In a market approaching saturation and characterized by increasingly intense brand competition, understanding consumer needs through deep user insights has become essential for enhancing product experiences and brand value—key drivers of sustainable growth. As one of TCL Group's core subsidiaries, TCL Electronics is committed to product development and market positioning centered on the end-user. To more accurately capture real-world usage scenarios, purchasing behaviors, and product preferences, the company urgently requires a systematic consumer research initiative to guide future product optimization and brand strategy.

Research scope

In October 2019, CEIDEA Research was commissioned by TCL Electronics Holdings to conduct a focused study on consumer behavior and experiences in the home appliance sector. The research examined typical usage scenarios, pain points, pleasure points ("sweet spots"), and expectations regarding product features and services. It also delved into key aspects such as consumer purchase motivations, decision-making factors, and preferred purchasing channels. For consumers who currently use TCL-branded products, the study specifically focused on their satisfaction levels, performance evaluations, and brand perceptions. The research employed a mixed-methods approach combining structured questionnaires and qualitative interviews to ensure comprehensive and multi-dimensional data coverage.

Expected outcomes

The findings will provide TCL Electronics with detailed insights into consumer behavior and emotional responses, enabling a more accurate understanding of market demand and product positioning. By analyzing the entire consumer journey—from purchase to usage—the study will offer robust data support for optimizing product feature design, improving service processes, shaping brand image, and adjusting channel strategies. Ultimately, the research outcomes will help TCL enhance user satisfaction and brand loyalty in a fiercely competitive market, achieving a high degree of alignment between smart home appliance offerings and actual user needs, thereby co-creating shared value.
