Shantou Shidai Liangpin - Research on Students' Storage Habits

Company overview
Shantou Shidai Liangpin Stationery Industry Co., Ltd. is a comprehensive enterprise specializing in the manufacturing of educational, craft, sports, and entertainment products. Since its establishment, the company has been committed to providing high-quality, multi-functional learning aids for middle and primary school students. Its main product lines include writing instruments, office supplies, and student storage products. Leveraging strong manufacturing capabilities, a stable supply chain, and continuous product innovation, the company's products are exported worldwide and holds a solid market position and brand influence within the domestic stationery industry. In response to the growing trend of diversified functions, human-centered design, and scene-specific product development, Shidai Liangpin has significantly increased R&D investment and actively incorporated user research principles to optimize products throughout the design-to-use lifecycle.
Research background
With the continuous improvement of home learning environments and the diversification of educational settings, students face increasingly complex storage needs—particularly in desk organization, backpack management, extracurricular participation, and shared family spaces. These scenarios demand higher expectations for the functionality, convenience, and aesthetic appeal of storage products. Traditional product designs often rely on market intuition rather than deep understanding of users' actual behaviors in specific contexts, resulting in products that frequently fall short in functional structure, spatial fit, or emotional resonance. To address this gap, Shantou Shidai Liangpin Stationery Industry Co., Ltd. plans to conduct in-depth, on-site household interviews to systematically capture the real-time needs and usage behaviors of students and parents across various daily life scenarios, providing a solid data foundation and actionable insights for future product optimization and innovation.
Research scope
In November 2025, CEIDEA Research was commissioned by Shantou Shidai Liangpin Stationery Industry Co., Ltd. to conduct a specialized user study on 'Usage Behaviors and Needs of Study Aids for Middle and Primary School Students Across Multiple Scenarios'. The study sampled households of middle and high-income residents in Guangzhou, covering students from elementary, junior high, and senior high school levels, with balanced representation between male and female students. The research focused on four key usage scenarios: in the learning space, attention was given to students' behaviors, functional preferences, and aesthetic alignment in desk storage; during out-of-home carrying, key pain points related to classification logic, structural design, and safety in school bags and pencil cases were identified; in extracurricular activities, the demand for flexibility, expandability, and personalized design was explored; in shared family spaces, the conflicts between students and parents and the need for visual harmony and spatial balance were analyzed. Through a combination of scene observation and interactive interviews, the study deeply understood users' actual behavioral patterns, emotional responses, and potential improvement suggestions, forming a multidimensional needs map.
Expected outcomes
This study will establish a structured 'Student Storage Product Usage Needs Database', comprehensively mapping the core demands, typical behavioral patterns, and key functional considerations of middle and primary school students and their families across different usage scenarios. The research findings will support Shidai Liangpin in developing a user-centered design framework for new product development, clearly defining the primary concerns of different user groups regarding functionality, adaptability, and aesthetics in storage products. It will provide actionable recommendations for product structural innovation, scenario-specific matching, and visual style evolution. Additionally, this research will lay the foundation for the company to establish a product iteration mechanism based on real user behaviors, driving stationery products from single-functionality toward multi-scenario integration and from standardized designs toward personalized expression, ultimately enabling the brand to achieve differentiated competition and sustainable growth.
