Research background

In the context of the national push to develop nuclear medicine, promote self-sufficiency in medical isotopes, and strengthen the construction of nuclear medicine specialties, there is a rapid surge in demand for nuclear medicine protection equipment and related engineering services. However, the industry continues to face challenges such as reliance on imported high-end equipment, high weight of traditional lead aprons, significant occupational injuries among medical personnel, and insufficient regional industrial chain support. Against this backdrop, Wenbo Environmental Technology Co., Ltd. intends to establish a new industrial layout centered on lead apron exoskeletons, core equipment for nuclear medicine departments, and related engineering services, and to advance the implementation of the National Tier-1 Nuclear Medicine Protection and Intelligent Equipment Production Base Project in Taiyuan. Therefore, a comprehensive feasibility study is required to evaluate the project's alignment with policy, technology sources, market potential, regional carrying capacity, socio-economic benefits, and implementation risks.

Research scope

In March 2026, CEIDEA Research was commissioned by Wenbo Environmental Technology Co., Ltd. to conduct a feasibility study on the medical lead apron and nuclear medicine equipment industry. This study employs a macro-level analytical approach, with a focused systemic analysis of the National Tier-1 Nuclear Medicine Protection and Intelligent Equipment Production Base Project in Taiyuan. The research will comprehensively examine the project's basic information, technology sources and cooperation mechanisms, alignment with national and regional policies in Shanxi and Taiyuan, core patent technologies and competitive alternatives for lead apron exoskeletons, deep purification systems for nuclear medicine wastewater and related derivative product lines, market demand and application scenarios, customer structure and procurement mechanisms, regional industrial chain coordination foundations, academic and medical resources, input and cost conditions, economic and social benefits, risk forecasting and mitigation strategies, as well as the client's EPC general contracting capability. The study aims to determine the practical feasibility of the project in terms of industrial deployment, engineering construction, and subsequent operations.
