Shenzhen Longgang Vocational and Technical School was founded in 1994 and is a nationally recognized key vocational school with advanced facilities and a large scale of operations. The school currently offers 10 majors, covering fields such as NC Technology Application, Automotive Maintenance and Repair, Computer Network Technology, and Early Childhood Education. Among these, NC, automotive, and computer network technology are designated as priority development majors in Guangdong Province. As a key base for vocational education in Shenzhen, the school is committed to cultivating high-quality technical and skilled talents to support regional economic development

Research background

Numerical control technology, as a core technology in modern manufacturing, is widely applied in mechanical, electrical, mold, and automotive industries. With the transformation and upgrading of Shenzhen's manufacturing sector, demand for high-level NC technicians has rapidly increased. To further enhance teaching quality and align with market demands for talent competencies, Shenzhen Longgang Vocational and Technical School has commissioned a third-party research institution to conduct a two-way survey involving enterprises and graduates. This effort aims to comprehensively understand industry development trends and the alignment between talent cultivation and market needs.

Research scope

In April 2015, CEIDEA Research was commissioned by Shenzhen Longgang Vocational and Technical School to carry out a focused investigation on the 'Numerical Control Technology Application' program. The primary research targets included manufacturing enterprises and graduates in the Shenzhen region. Using a combination of in-depth interviews and quantitative questionnaires, the study focused on understanding enterprises' requirements for NC technical expertise and overall competencies, job structure and salary levels, current applications and technologies of mainstream NC equipment, as well as graduate employment trends, job fit, career development paths, and feedback on the school's curriculum design.

Expected outcomes

Through this research, the school will gain a comprehensive understanding of the core competency requirements for NC professionals and industry development trends, identifying gaps and areas for improvement in talent cultivation processes. The final report will provide actionable data and strategic recommendations for curriculum optimization, updating of practical training content, strengthening of school-enterprise collaboration mechanisms, and reform of teaching evaluation systems, thereby helping to establish a vocational education system closely aligned with regional economic development needs
