Zhuhai Technician College was founded in 1980 and is the only public technician college in Zhuhai, directly administered by the Zhuhai Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau. As a nationally designated key vocational training institution and one of the first batch of pilot construction units for the reform and development of secondary vocational education, the college has consistently adhered to the educational direction of 'serving development and promoting employment,' focusing on cultivating high-quality skilled talents. On December 21, 2009, then National Leader Hu Jintao visited the college and delivered an important instruction: 'Without first-class technicians, there can be no first-class products,' which significantly boosted the direction and morale of vocational education development.
Research background
In the context of continuous deepening of vocational education reform and the increasing demands from enterprises for the quality of skilled talent, Zhuhai Technician College aims to systematically review and evaluate the quality of graduate training and employment status over the past five years, while also gaining insights from employing enterprises regarding their satisfaction with talent output from vocational schools and specific requirements. Through two-way surveys involving graduates and enterprises, the college intends to identify potential gaps and shortcomings in the talent cultivation process, providing data support for optimizing program design, teaching content, internship arrangements, and school-enterprise cooperation, thereby enhancing its ability to serve social and economic development.
Research scope
In November 2014, CEIDEA Research was commissioned by Zhuhai Technician College to conduct a comprehensive survey on graduate employment quality and employer satisfaction. The survey targeted graduates from various majors over the past five years and their respective employers, employing a combination of telephone interviews, online questionnaires, and on-site in-depth interviews. The graduate portion focused on job match, career development, and feedback and suggestions regarding the college's educational approach; the enterprise portion emphasized employers' overall evaluations of graduates' professional competence, skill proficiency, and job adaptability, as well as specific recommendations for the college's talent cultivation strategies. The survey covered multiple industries across the Guangdong Delta region, ensuring the breadth and practicality of the feedback.
Expected outcomes
Through this survey, Zhuhai Technician College will gain a comprehensive understanding of graduates' development in the workplace and employers' evaluations of their performance, clearly identifying the college's achievements and challenges in areas such as talent cultivation quality, curriculum design, practical teaching, and employment guidance. The research findings will serve as decision-making support for optimizing program structures, strengthening school-enterprise collaboration, improving teaching models, and enhancing students' professional competencies. This will further promote the college's internal development and improve graduates' employment competitiveness and social adaptability, ultimately realizing the institutional goal of 'cultivating first-class technicians.'
