Company overview

Jimei Vocational and Technical School, located in Xiamen, Fujian Province, was established in August 2004 through the integration of the Xinglin Vocational Education Center, the Jimei Vocational Education Center, and the Vocational Secondary School Department of Xinglin High School. It is one of the pilot schools selected by the Ministry of Education under the 'Half-Work, Half-Study' initiative. The school adheres to the educational philosophy of 'moral and technical cultivation, industry-education integration,' focusing on cultivating students' practical skills and professional competencies. Since its inception, the school has earned multiple accolades, including 'Outstanding Unit in Vocational Education Work in Fujian Province,' 'Civilized School in Xiamen,' and 'Outstanding Unit in Employment Guidance Work in Xiamen.' Its CNC technology program is designated as a Central Vocational Education Training Base, while Fashion Design and Technology is a provincial-level key specialty. Mechanical Manufacturing, CNC Technology Application, and Mold Design and Manufacturing are recognized as key specialties at the Xiamen municipal level, reflecting the school's strong professional development capabilities and industry service capacity.

Research background

As manufacturing continues to evolve toward higher precision and efficiency, the demand for skilled talent in the precision mold manufacturing industry has become increasingly diverse and specialized. In response to the modernization requirements for secondary vocational education, Jimei Vocational and Technical School has seized the opportunity of its first batch of modern school construction initiatives to explore the deepening of the 'Mechanical Manufacturing' program and the expansion of the 'Precision Mold Manufacturing' specialization. To achieve a precise alignment between curriculum development and industrial needs, a comprehensive industry survey is urgently required to systematically understand actual employment demands and future development trends in the precision manufacturing sector, thereby enabling a targeted alignment between educational programs and industry requirements.

Research scope

In May 2017, CEIDEA Research was commissioned by Jimei Vocational and Technical School to conduct a specialized talent demand investigation in the precision mold manufacturing industry. The research covered multiple precision manufacturing and mold design enterprises across Xiamen and its surrounding regions. Using a combination of questionnaires, in-depth interviews, and case study analysis, the study focused on analyzing actual enterprise needs regarding technical position setup, skill requirements, educational levels, professional competencies, and training mechanisms. Additionally, by integrating industry development trends and technological upgrading directions, the research assessed the core requirements for mid-level vocational talent in the future precision manufacturing sector—particularly in knowledge structure, practical skills, and technical adaptability—providing data support and strategic recommendations for professional development.

Expected outcomes

This research will provide Jimei Vocational and Technical School with precise, enterprise-driven insights into talent demand in the precision mold manufacturing field, promoting deeper integration between the school's program design, curriculum structure, practical training content, and talent specifications and industry needs. The findings will help the school establish a vocational education quality system centered on job requirements, enhancing the adaptability and forward-looking nature of its programs. This will significantly improve graduates' employment competitiveness and provide a stable supply of high-quality, skilled talent to support regional manufacturing industry development.
