Survey on Physical Recreation Consumption Behavior of Guangzhou Residents

Company overview

Guangzhou Sports Vocational and Technical College is the only higher vocational institution in Guangdong Province dedicated to training professional sports talent. The college has long been committed to sports scientific research and talent development. In addition to fulfilling its responsibilities in vocational education for sports-related fields across the province, the college actively promotes integration between academic research and social services, supporting regional sports development and the growth of the large health industry.

Research background

Under the continuous advancement of the National Fitness Policy and the rapid development of big data technologies, physical recreation—now an essential component of urban residents' daily lives—is undergoing significant changes in its consumption behaviors, consumption patterns, and potential market size. As one of the key cities in the Pearl River Delta, Guangzhou boasts strong sports resources and high population density, making it a representative region for studying physical recreation consumption behaviors. To better understand market dynamics, accumulate data resources, and support policy formulation and teaching research, Guangzhou Sports Vocational and Technical College urgently needs to conduct targeted research

Research scope

In February 2017, CEIDEA Research was commissioned by Guangzhou Sports Vocational and Technical College to conduct a special study on the physical recreation consumption behaviors of residents in the Guangzhou region (within the Pearl River Delta). The target population consists of sports enthusiasts in Guangzhou, with data collected through a combination of online surveys and offline questionnaires. Key data points include residents' awareness of sports consumption, motivations for consumption, behavioral characteristics, frequency of participation, monthly spending amounts, preferred consumption channels, and methods of information acquisition. Based on Guangzhou's urban development, demographic structure, and sports infrastructure, the study analyzes overall market capacity and development trends, establishing a foundational database on local residents' physical recreation consumption behaviors.

Expected outcomes

The final report comprehensively presents the consumption characteristics and trends of Guangzhou residents in the field of physical recreation, providing scientific support for the college's teaching and research, data accumulation, sports project development, and industry services. The research findings will promote the deep integration of sports education and the sports industry, and serve as a reference for local government authorities and relevant enterprises in formulating strategies for promoting sports service development.
