However, many vocational schools still face challenges such as misaligned curricula, outdated teaching content, and unclear career development paths for graduates. Research scope
In April 2014, CEIDEA Research was commissioned by relevant educational management authorities to conduct a comprehensive investigation into three majors: engineering cost estimation, construction engineering, and architectural decoration. The research covered: the development trends and talent demand in the construction industry, specific skill requirements from corresponding enterprises for job positions, current curricula, teaching resources, faculty staffing, and practical training conditions at vocational schools, as well as graduate performance in job placements, career trajectories, and development bottlenecks. The study will also conduct case analyses on five specific teaching topics—engineering surveying, sketching and color theory, reading drawing skills and mathematical applications, and the construction of special operation training bases—to identify teachers' practical teaching challenges and areas for improvement, and provide actionable recommendations for curriculum reform.
Expected outcomes
This study will comprehensively present the market positioning and development prospects of the three majors—engineering cost estimation, construction, and decoration—while analyzing the alignment between vocational school teaching and market demands, providing foundational data support for optimizing talent development programs.
