Weik Group - Commercial Positioning Study for Wuli Shan Tian Street

Company overview
The Weik Group was founded in 2003 and is a diversified enterprise group integrating hotel management, commercial real estate development, and financial services. With its headquarters located in southern China, the group operates twelve subsidiaries and has business interests across Jiangxi, Guangdong, and Anhui provinces. Over the years, the Weik Group has established a strong brand image in the regional commercial real estate sector through sound strategic operations and innovative development concepts, and has gradually expanded into high-end hotel and financial services, becoming a significant, integrated enterprise within the region.
Research background
As the development of the new Hefei Railway Station area matures, the Weik Group plans to develop a city-scale integrated complex featuring apartments, a five-star hotel, and commercial facilities—named 'Wuli Shan Tian Street'—on the northern side of the area. However, the Hefei market currently faces intense competition among small-scale commercial complexes, with consumers exhibiting increasingly diverse preferences, making market segmentation and precise positioning particularly critical. Amid rapidly evolving consumer behaviors and intensifying regional homogenization, clearly defining the core consumer group, establishing a defined commercial reach, and accurately positioning differentiated retail formats present significant challenges during the early planning stages of the project.
Research scope
In July 2014, CEIDEA Research was commissioned by the Weik Group to conduct a specialized market study on the target consumers and retail format alignment for the Wuli Shan Tian Street project. Survey participants included residents, commuters, and potential consumers within the project's service area. Through structured questionnaires, the study collected behavioral data on shopping frequency, brand preferences, consumption categories, and leisure habits. Additionally, in-depth interviews were conducted with operators of existing and prospective dining, retail, and lifestyle service outlets to understand their location intentions, leasing priorities, and brand matching requirements. By integrating consumer and merchant data, the study provides comprehensive support for project positioning and retail strategy development.
Expected outcomes
The research will clearly define the profile of the target consumer base, determine the commercial reach of the project, identify the most attractive retail mix, and propose a retail planning strategy and leasing recommendations aligned with market demand. The final report will provide the Weik Group with systematic, science-based decision support for the Wuli Shan Tian Street project in terms of retail mix, circulation design, brand selection, and operational strategies, ensuring the project achieves differentiated competitive advantages and sustainable commercial value.
