Bioserenity was founded in 2014 and is headquartered at the Institute of Brain and Spine (Institut du Cerveau et de la Moelle épinière) in Paris, France. It is a globally innovative startup specializing in intelligent and remote healthcare solutions. The company focuses on developing wearable intelligent medical devices that integrate smart clothing, mobile applications, and cloud-based data collection and AI analysis capabilities. Its first product, Neuronaute, designed for epilepsy monitoring and diagnosis, received CE and FDA certifications in 2016 and 2017, respectively, marking strong international recognition of its technology and signaling a shift in how neurologists traditionally approach epilepsy diagnosis.

Research background

Bioserenity China was established in December 2017 with plans to launch four products related to epilepsy and cardiovascular disease monitoring within China by 2018. These include two medical device products and two service-based solutions. Prior to market launch, the company urgently needs to gain a comprehensive understanding of the policy environment, technological acceptance, and market demand in China's healthcare sector—particularly the awareness, willingness to adopt, and regulatory entry barriers held by key medical institutions. This information will inform a precise market entry strategy and product integration pathway.

Research scope

In May 2018, CEIDEA Research was commissioned by Bioserenity China to conduct an in-depth, systematic study on the macro-level policy environment and micro-level institutional needs related to the commercialization of its four products in China. The research included: (1) a desk-based analysis of China's policy direction, regulatory requirements, industry landscape, and technological trends in intelligent medical devices; and (2) qualitative in-depth interviews with expert physicians from neurology and cardiology departments to explore their perspectives on the clinical applicability, usage scenarios, acceptance conditions, and procurement processes of intelligent monitoring devices. The study focused on key regional centers and leading hospitals to ensure the forward-looking and actionable nature of the findings.

Expected outcomes

This research is expected to provide Bioserenity with a clear picture of opportunities and challenges in the Chinese market for intelligent monitoring devices, and to establish the feasibility, implementation pathways, and timing for both epilepsy and cardiovascular disease monitoring products. The findings will serve as a robust data foundation and strategic direction for the company's market access strategy, product localization optimization, hospital channel expansion, and physician engagement framework, enabling efficient and precise product introduction and business development in China.
