Feasibility Study on the Establishment of a Medical Device Distribution Center

Company overview

Shenzhen RuiXun Real Estate Development Co., Ltd. was founded in 2001 and specializes in enterprise supply chain outsourcing services. Leveraging a robust information system and warehousing and logistics network, the company has built a strong reputation and brand presence in the medical device and printing machinery industries. RuiXun Real Estate is committed to providing enterprises with efficient, reliable, end-to-end supply chain solutions and is one of the more specialized third-party logistics service providers in Shenzhen.

Research background

With the rapid development of the healthcare industry, medical device distribution and delivery management are facing increasingly stringent requirements for professionalism and standardization. RuiXun Real Estate intends to leverage its strengths in logistics and information systems, integrating upstream and downstream resources across the medical device supply chain to establish a professional medical device distribution center. In this context, the company commissioned CEIDEA Research to conduct a feasibility analysis of the industry, to comprehensively evaluate the market potential and implementation challenges associated with establishing such a center.

Research scope

In September 2011, CEIDEA Research was engaged by RuiXun Real Estate to conduct in-depth interviews with medical device manufacturers, distributors, and hospital end-users. The research covered: manufacturers' and sales entities' acceptance of third-party logistics cooperation models; conceptual approaches for quality traceability and control mechanisms throughout the distribution chain (such as the UDI unique identification system); proposed institutional frameworks for acceptance, recall procedures, and capital circulation; the direct and indirect cost components involved in hospital procurement and equipment maintenance; and an analysis of current issues regarding delivery timeliness. Based on systematic field research, the study will provide professional support for the operational model, resource integration strategies, and service standard development of the distribution center.

Expected outcomes

The research findings will provide data-based support for RuiXun Real Estate in evaluating the feasibility of establishing a medical device distribution center, clearly identifying industry pain points and key operational considerations, recognizing core customer needs and service value propositions, and guiding the development of a standardized, intelligent, and compliant distribution system. The ultimate goal is to leverage a professional third-party platform to consolidate resources, reduce circulation costs, and enhance hospital operational efficiency, thereby enabling the company to successfully expand its business footprint in the medical logistics sector.
