Research on Childcare Institutions for Young Children

Company overview

YiQi JuYe.com was founded in October 2011 and is China's leading online learning platform for primary and secondary schools. The company aims to enhance teachers' teaching efficiency and students' learning capabilities through technological solutions, while also helping parents better understand and manage their children's academic progress. The platform currently covers two core subjects—elementary English and mathematics—and has over 14 million registered users, earning widespread recognition and trust from teachers, students, and parents nationwide.

Research background

With the rapid development of the 'Internet Plus Education' industry and the growing reality of dual-income households facing challenges in after-school child supervision, after-school tutoring services have become a key concern for parents. However, the market offers a wide variety of tutoring institutions with inconsistent service quality. YiQi JuYe.com aims to leverage its existing user base to explore an integrated model combining online and offline education services, entering the tutoring market and establishing a feasible pathway for integrating its online platform with offline tutoring resources. Therefore, it commissioned CEIDEA Research to conduct an in-depth investigation into parents' childcare needs and the current status of tutoring institutions in key cities across the country.

Research scope

In October 2015, CEIDEA Research was commissioned by YiQi JuYe.com to conduct field research in eight major Chinese cities: Beijing, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Hangzhou, Changsha, Qingdao, Chengdu, and Xi'an. The study employed a combination of online questionnaires and on-the-ground field surveys. On one hand, it aimed to deeply understand parents' acceptance levels, pain points, service preferences, expected costs, and decision-making processes for daily, weekend, and holiday (winter and summer) tutoring programs. On the other hand, it conducted comprehensive field investigations of tutoring institutions located in commercial districts, including their operational models, teacher-to-student ratios, service offerings, pricing structures, capacity and saturation levels, market density, and profitability. By analyzing data from both parents and tutoring institutions, the study provides a comprehensive picture of the demand and supply structure in the tutoring market.

Expected outcomes

The final research report will accurately map out the childcare needs and characteristics of the target parent demographic, identify service gaps and key concerns in the market, and provide a thorough analysis of the current operations and potential collaboration opportunities among key-city tutoring institutions. This will serve as a scientific basis and actionable strategy for YiQi JuYe.com to enter the tutoring market, integrate offline tutoring resources, and build a comprehensive 'online plus offline' education ecosystem.
