User Profile Research for the Tomcat IP Game Series

Company overview

Zhejiang Jinke Entertainment Culture Co., Ltd. (referred to as "Jinke Entertainment") was founded in 2007 and successfully listed on the Creative Board of the Stock Exchange in May 2015 (stock code: 300459). The company leverages internet big data as its core foundation, with business operations spanning game publishing, advertising promotion, internet education, artificial intelligence, and other high-tech fields. Jinke Entertainment is committed to building a global internet-based high-tech enterprise platform. As a key player in the cultural and entertainment industry, Jinke Entertainment has established a strong brand reputation and robust development momentum through its keen strategic vision and powerful resource integration capabilities.

Research background

In 2017, Jinke Entertainment entered into a strategic partnership with Outfit7, a renowned international IP developer, gaining full authorization to develop, publish, promote, produce merchandise, and create video content based on the 'Talking Family' IP series. The four casual games launched under this IP—My Tomcat, My Angela, My Hank the Dog, and Tomcat Run—performed exceptionally well upon release, with continuously growing user engagement and download volumes. To gain deeper insights into user demographics and market potential, and to clarify future IP expansion and commercialization strategies, Jinke Entertainment commissioned a comprehensive user research initiative.

Research scope

In September 2018, CEIDEA Research was commissioned by Zhejiang Jinke Entertainment Culture Co., Ltd. to conduct a user characteristic study focused on the core user base of the four games in the 'Talking Family' series. The research employed a hybrid approach combining online surveys with on-site visits to amusement parks, targeting both core and secondary player segments. Key data points—including user behavior, usage habits, interest preferences, and brand awareness—were systematically collected. The study aims to clearly identify the size and characteristics of the core player base and the distribution and traits of secondary users, providing actionable insights for Jinke Entertainment's future game optimization, IP management, and marketing strategies.

Expected outcomes

This research is expected to provide a clear and detailed picture of the user structure and market scale of the four games, identify the core needs and behavioral patterns of different user types, and offer quantifiable guidance for Jinke Entertainment in refining game product features, formulating marketing strategies, and determining IP extension directions. Additionally, the findings will serve as a strong foundation for the company's efforts in building an IP portfolio, extending content offerings, and exploring cross-industry collaborations, thereby enabling deeper value extraction and industrialization of the 'Talking Family' IP.
