Research on Oncology Physicians' Medication Habits

Company overview

Hengrui Medicine Co., Ltd., established in 1970, is a leading pharmaceutical and healthcare enterprise specializing in the research, development, and commercialization of innovative drugs. The company is a globally recognized supplier of anticancer drugs, surgical medications, and contrast agents and serves as the lead organization of the National Anticancer Drug Innovation Research, Production, and Education Alliance. Hengrui Medicine employs over 24,000 personnel worldwide and has its products distributed across global markets. The company went public on the Shanghai Stock Exchange in 2000 and has been ranked 47th among the world's top 50 pharmaceutical companies. The company is committed to developing and producing high-quality drugs and holds a leading position in both domestic and international pharmaceutical markets.

Research background

Hengrui Medicine has significant strengths in oncology drug development and market promotion. However, to further enhance product competitiveness and accurately capture market demand, Hengrui needs to gain a deeper understanding of oncology physicians' actual experiences and evaluations of its products. There remains a significant market gap—particularly in areas such as patient flow across different cancer types and off-label usage experiences. To build a more comprehensive database and effectively track patient visitation pathways, Hengrui Medicine has decided to conduct market research to provide data-driven support for product optimization and market expansion.

Research scope

In November 2020, CEIDEA Research was commissioned by Hengrui Medicine to design both qualitative and quantitative questionnaires targeting oncology physicians' prescribing attitudes, past medication experiences, and off-label usage practices. The survey primarily focused on oncology physicians' clinical prescribing behaviors, evaluations of Hengrui products, usage scenarios, and efficacy feedback. Additionally, patient flow patterns across different cancer types were investigated to establish a unified database, facilitating future tracking and analysis of patient visitation pathways. Survey data were collected by Hengrui's field sales teams and ultimately aggregated into a large dataset for further analysis and utilization by Hengrui Medicine.

Expected outcomes

This research aims to provide Hengrui Medicine with comprehensive clinical data to accurately understand oncology physicians' real-world prescribing needs and preferences. The findings will serve as a scientific basis for future product development, marketing strategies, and patient management. By establishing a robust database, Hengrui Medicine will be better equipped to monitor patient flow patterns, refine its product promotion strategies, and improve market share. Additionally, the data will provide actionable insights for future drug development directions.
