User Needs Research for Children's Study Desks

Company overview

SKG is a global internet appliance company headquartered in Guangdong, China, with a strategic focus on globalization from its inception, inspired by Thomas L. Friedman's concept of 'The World is Flat.' SKG has established subsidiaries in the United States, Germany, and Hong Kong, and has built multiple overseas warehouses in the United Kingdom, Australia, and the United States. Through continuous investment in user experience and service, its sales network now spans numerous countries and regions worldwide, with products successfully exported to Europe, North America, and Southeast Asia, earning widespread acclaim and being recognized as the leading brand in internet-connected home appliances.

Research background

As growing awareness of children's study environments and personal growth spaces within the household increases, SKG plans to launch a new study desk product targeted at children aged 3 to 12. The company intends to conduct preliminary research to deeply understand the living and study environments of target users, their household device usage patterns, and children's behavioral characteristics, in order to guide product design and market positioning, ensuring the new product meets real family needs and enhances its market competitiveness.

Research scope

In August 2021, CEIDEA Research was commissioned by SKG to conduct in-home interviews with families who own their own residences and have children aged 3 to 12. This study focused on users' habits and potential needs regarding smart home devices, collecting data on the style and dimensions of household spaces, children's study methods, usage patterns of study materials and toys, as well as children's behavioral habits and demographic information. By gaining deep insights into users' authentic daily contexts, CEIDEA Research will provide SKG with essential data and actionable insights to support the development of its next-generation children's study desk product.

Expected outcomes

The research will help SKG identify the real needs and unmet expectations of users regarding children's study environments, uncover key usage scenarios and functional elements in product design, and enhance the human-centered and differentiated features of the product. Ultimately, the findings will support SKG's expansion into the smart home segment, enable the creation of more accurate user profiles, and facilitate precise positioning and efficient market promotion of its children's study desk product.
