Study on the Lifestyle Attitudes of Retired Personnel in Zhuhai

Company overview

Macau Research Center (MRC), abbreviated as MRC, was established in 2008 and is a leading market research institution based in Macau. As an independent third-party research firm operating under a commercial model, MRC specializes in social research, market surveys, and public affairs research among other fields, possessing extensive project experience and a professional team. It has broad influence and strong implementation capabilities, particularly in the Greater Bay Area, with significant presence and operational reach in Macau and Zhuhai.

Research background

With the accelerated pace of population aging in China, Zhuhai, as one of the key cities in the Greater Bay Area, faces the real challenge of a continuously growing elderly population. Retirees aged 65 and over have become an increasingly significant group within the social consumption and public service systems. To scientifically identify characteristics such as consumption behavior, leisure preferences, and attitudes toward aging and retirement, and to provide targeted product and service support for government bodies, enterprises, and social organizations, Macau Research Center has launched a special study to gain in-depth insights into the living conditions and needs of elderly residents in Zhuhai.

Research scope

In March 2020, CEIDEA Research was commissioned by Macau Research Center to conduct a special survey targeting retirees aged 65 and over in Zhuhai. The study employed telephone interviews, with a total sample size of 300 individuals, representing diverse demographics including gender, income levels, residential areas, and health conditions. Data were collected on daily consumption expenditures, health and wellness practices, leisure and entertainment habits, levels of social participation, emotional needs, and attitudes toward elderly-related products and services. Special attention was given to the elderly's actual needs and satisfaction levels regarding home-based care, community support, cultural and recreational facilities, and health management.

Expected outcomes

This study will provide Macau and Zhuhai municipal governments, as well as relevant elderly care institutions, with authentic and actionable data on the elderly population, helping to optimize elderly care service systems and improve the efficiency of public resource allocation. Additionally, it will offer precise references for enterprises in the elderly care industry regarding product development, market positioning, and promotional strategies, thereby promoting diversification in the elderly care sector and continuously enhancing the quality of life for the aging population.
