Research background
With the accelerated internationalization of the Nansha Free Trade Zone, the number of foreign residents has been steadily increasing, and their demands for community environments and supporting services have become increasingly diverse. To better understand the living experiences of foreign residents and enhance the quality of community life, the Nansha New Area Planning and Design Research Institute commissioned CEIDEA Research in February 2023 to conduct a targeted study on foreign residents residing in the Nansha District. This research aims to comprehensively understand the actual needs of foreign residents regarding living environments, public services, and cultural integration, providing a solid basis for building an internationally accessible, livable, and human-centered community.
Research scope
In February 2023, CEIDEA Research, commissioned by the Nansha New Area Planning and Design Research Institute, conducted in-depth interviews with foreign residents residing in the Nansha District to collect direct feedback on their daily community experiences. The interview topics covered the comfort and safety of living environments, greenery and open spaces within communities, the quality of neighborly relationships, accessibility to education and medical resources, the atmosphere of cultural exchange, the completeness of commercial facilities, and the user experience of public service infrastructure. The study focuses on understanding foreign residents' overall evaluations in terms of convenience, cultural identification, and sense of belonging, providing practical reference information for planning decisions.
Expected outcomes
This research is expected to deliver the Nansha Planning and Design Institute with detailed data and analysis on the daily living needs and service evaluations of international residents, offering recommendations from an international perspective for the planning and development of public areas and supporting facilities in the Nansha District. The findings will contribute to improving the overall quality of the community environment, enhancing foreign residents' satisfaction and sense of belonging, and promoting the development and optimization of Nansha's international community. It will also provide strong support for building a high-quality, globally-oriented, livable urban district.
