Feasibility Study Analysis for Fuzhou Line 5

Company overview

Guangzhou Metro Design & Research Institute Co., Ltd. (referred to as 'GZMTR') is a comprehensive technical service company specializing in urban rail transit, municipal engineering, geotechnical investigation, and project management. Since its establishment, GZMTR has continuously expanded its business operations and currently maintains 13 branches nationwide, possessing extensive experience in the design and consulting of large-scale infrastructure projects. Committed to delivering high-standard technical services to support the modernization of urban transportation, GZMTR serves as a key technical backbone in China's rail transit sector.

Research background

During the implementation of Fuzhou's urban rail transit network planning, Line 5 Phase I, as a key project, involves extensive urban spatial adjustments and impacts on residents' daily lives. To ensure social stability throughout the project implementation process, and to fully understand the actual concerns and attitudes of affected communities, and to mitigate potential social risks, the Fuzhou Development and Reform Commission commissioned the Fuzhou Branch of GZMTR to conduct a feasibility study, with social stability analysis and assessment regarded as a core pre-implementation phase.

Research scope

In October 2015, CEIDEA Research was entrusted by the Fuzhou Research Institute of Guangzhou Metro Design & Research Institute to undertake the preparation of the social stability analysis and assessment report for the Phase I project of Fuzhou Rail Transit Line 5. The research team conducted systematic investigations targeting residents potentially affected along the line, employing a combination of in-depth interviews and quantitative surveys. The focus was on collecting residents' awareness levels, key concerns, and attitudes of understanding and support toward the project, and evaluating the project's impact on residents' quality of life, travel convenience, and future expectations. The study aims to establish a multi-dimensional public feedback mechanism to provide social stability assurance for project implementation.

Expected outcomes

Through this research, CEIDEA Research systematically identified the public's attitudes and core concerns regarding the Phase I project of Fuzhou Rail Transit Line 5, and identified potential sources of social instability and sensitive issues. The research findings will serve as a key component of the social stability analysis report, providing data support for subsequent project decision-making, public communication mechanisms, and risk mitigation planning, thereby effectively promoting the smooth advancement of the project and maintaining social harmony and stability
