Company overview

The Guangdong Science Center is located in the University Town area of Guangzhou and is one of the major comprehensive science and education venues developed by Guangdong Province, also serving as a landmark project in China's green building initiatives. The center integrates four core functions: science popularization education, exhibition of scientific and technological achievements, international academic exchanges, and science tourism. It is one of the largest science popularization bases in China and Asia. As a key platform for Guangdong Province's implementation of the "Science and Education for Guangdong" and "Talent Power Province" strategies, the Guangdong Science Center not only serves as a vital platform for scientific exhibition and public education, but also functions as an important cultural window for showcasing Guangzhou's urban image...

Research background

With the continuously rising expectations for the quality of public cultural facilities, the Guangdong Science Center intends to conduct a systematic research project to track visitors' feedback on service quality over time, identify service weaknesses, and enhance visitor experience. To establish a scientific and comprehensive service evaluation system, the Guangdong Science Center has launched a one-year visitor satisfaction and service monitoring research project, covering aspects such as daily service evaluations, facility management feedback, and frontline staff professionalism. The project aims to ensure that service quality meets international standards for science and technology exhibition venues.

Research scope

In January 2013, CEIDEA Research was commissioned by the Guangdong Science Center to conduct an annual visitor satisfaction survey and service monitoring project. The project consists of three core modules: 1. Visitor Satisfaction Survey: A monthly rolling survey will be conducted throughout the year, resulting in monthly, quarterly, and annual comprehensive reports. Survey topics include ticketing services, exhibition layout, interactivity of exhibits, guided services, supporting facilities, environmental hygiene, and overall visitation experience. The sample population covers key visitor groups including families, school groups, and independent travelers. 2. Mystery Visitor Monitoring: Professional mystery visitors will enter the Science Center twice per month to simulate the experience of regular visitors, undergoing a full-service journey evaluation. The focus will be on observing frontline staff's service attitude, adaptability, clarity of guidance, exhibition order, and handling of unexpected incidents. 3. Property Service Satisfaction Survey: Conducted biannually, this survey comprehensively evaluates cleaning, security, facility maintenance, landscaping, and environmental comfort. Feedback from both visitors and management will be integrated to provide a quantitative assessment of property service quality.

Expected outcomes

Through this comprehensive research, the Guangdong Science Center will obtain precise data and an integrated evaluation report on the entire visitor service process, enabling a full understanding of its service strengths and weaknesses. The research findings will provide decision support for improving visitor satisfaction, optimizing service processes, enhancing employee training, and elevating facility management standards. Additionally, the study will help establish a continuous improvement mechanism, strengthening the Guangdong Science Center's service capabilities and public image as a national-level science popularization base and a key urban cultural brand.
